Apple’s second fall hardware show has been held a few hours ago in New York City. It was a pretty interesting event as Apple has launched three new devices! So what has Apple to offer this year? Apparently they have revealed the new version of MacBook Air, a newer iPad Pro and… Mac Mini! Yes, you read that right, Mac Mini.
Let’s jump straight into it.
I would like to cover first the new Mac Mini as that product itself hasn’t seen an upgrade since 2014. It’s been four whole years. So what changed after all those years?
First of all the new Mac Mini is now available in Space Grey. Not a major upgrade if we take into consideration the new style Apple has been putting on their devices lately. And who cares how a mini-desktop looks like? Let’s talk about specs. The new Mac Mini features a quad-core processor chip (allowing for upgrade to six cores) and it comes with a maximum of 64 GB of RAM. Apple has also made a few changes on the ports of the device, as they added four Thunderbolt 3 ports and an Ethernet one.
But what is really exciting about the new Mac Mini is that, it is made out of 100% recycled aluminium.
Prices start at $799.
Moving on, Apple has made a few upgrades on the legendary MacBook Air which was originally released ten years ago.
The new MacBook Air features a 13.3-inch Retina display, a Force Touch trackpad and it even comes with Touch ID! On top of that, Apple has also upgraded it’s processor, the keyboard and added some more USB-C ports. And if that wasn’t enough for you, they managed to reduce the laptop’s weight down to 2.75 pounds and it’s 17% smaller than previously released MacBook Air models. Much like the new Mac Mini, the new MacBook Air is also made out of recycled aluminium. The only downside here in my opinion is it’s storage. Unfortunately the new model comes with just 128 gigs of SSD storage.
Prices start at $1,199.
And last but not least, the brand new iPad Pro.
So what does the new iPad Pro has to offer? Well to start with, it takes 25% less space than the previously released iPad Pro’s. Considering the volume an iPad Pro takes, that’s a significant change. Moreover, Apple has decided to entirely remove the home button and (yes you guessed it) the headphone jack. No more headphone jacks for iPad Pro. But not to be let down, they have also added a Liquid Retina display . The new display is 11 inches which is just slightly smaller than the MacBook Air’s one. In addition, the new iPad Pro features Face ID, allowing it’s user to unlock it effortless within seconds.
What about it’s hardware specifications though? Any worthy upgrades? Well, I would say yes, Apple has you covered on this one.
Featuring a seven-core GPU and a brand new processor called A12X made by Bionic. Apple claims that the new iPad Pro’s are 92% faster of all laptops, so that makes a strong point. The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes. The small 11 inches version and it’s bigger brother featuing a 12.9-inch display.
Prices start at $799 for the small version and $999 respectively for the 12.9-inch version.
